THE BIG CARNIVAL.
FEATURES OF THE WITH) WEST SHOW. One of the features of the hip A. and P. Carnival at the Show Groundß on Saturday week will be the Wild West. Show organised by Mr J. Johns. There will he buck lumping competitions; bullock riding competitions lor men and women; calf riding competitions for boys under fifteen; pony races for children, draught horse trots for men fifteen stone and over: Highland dances; games of skill: side-shows galore and a great collection of live freaks. Some of the worst outlaw horses in tlie Dominion will be present and also 40 bullocks from the back country and some of the buck .jumping stunts will be as hair-raising as any seen in cow-boy Amor Other features of the Big Carnival will be a Rugby Union senior football match ami a great stock drive at which both stock and produce will he sold. The carnival, which will commence early in the morning and last, till dark, is in aid of the improvements carried out and contemplated by the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association at the Show Grounds. Addington. The improvements - being carried out comprise the fol lowing:—Building of sheep pens. £5,500 ; removal of pig liens, £100; removal of Her retary s office. £427; new grandstand and roadways. £BOO. The improvements contemplated include:— Cattle pavilion. £4,000: new railway siding. £1,000: industrial hall. £IO,OOO. These items make a total of £21,827.
