Phc vessel idowri the harbour, and pats&origers •will be conveyed to it by ferry. The stewards refused to sign on if volunteer seamen were engaged. TUo wharf labourer's, officers 4 and engineers* unions have not yet «Ti =- i-ussed the latest development. The company reports a good response of volunteers in eon.sequence of the large number of unemployed seamen in Sydney. Union circles are of the opinion that the company will secure on crew, but will bo unable to man all the idle steamers with volunteers. MAORI TO SAIL TO-NIGHT. There are no new developments in respect to the shipping strike. The Maori will go north to-night, replacing the Mararoa in the ferry service, and will maintain the running, sailing on Tuesday, Thursday- and Saturday ot 11 ext week. There are no indications yet as to when the trouble will terminate. So strike is still on. though the owners' by means of scratch crews, arc able to carry on the more important services.
