Bishop Julius was a passenger by this morning’s ferry steamer from WellingMr Louis Barraclougli Wilson, who died on Wednesday after brief illness was the youngest son of Mr anti -Mrs J. Wilson of 421, Papanui Road. He served Iris apprenticeship to motor engineering and when the war broke out enlisted in the motor-boat patrol. He passed his examinations on board H.M.S Harmio lie, and was then drafted to His Majesty’s mystery ships and from there to the Dover motor-boat patrol. Hr "Wilson was rated Chief -Motor Mechanic at the age of twentyone. and served under Captain Saunders. V.C. in a mystery ship, whei’e lie was under submarine lire for some time and was nearly sunk. He had many narrow escapes around the coasts of England, enduring the privations of cold winters and food shortage. He took part in the famous Ostend and Zeebruggee raid, standing to for over two hours under heavy fire. Later he was. Etationed at Whitby where he remained until the end of the war. On returning to Christchurch he -.again took up his trade, but the strain imposed on him on active service compelled him to take outdoor work. Mr Wilson was of a very likeable disposition and will no mourned by a wide circle of friend*.
