A PATENT CASE.
I Pee. Press Association."] WELLINGTON, May 3. The Court of Appeal this morning continued the hearing of argument in the matter of Wharton’s application for a patent. Wharton is a citizen of the United States. The Registrar of Patents refused his application, and the matter is now before the Court of Appeal by way of an originating summons. Mr C. H. Treadwell, for the applicant, contended that an article in the Peace Treaty as to ratification did not make necessary the ratification of any quasi-domestic arrangements between the Allies themselves, and that, therefore, the applicant was entitled to the benefit of tnc extension of time for the application for a patent provided for in the Peace Treaty, even although the United States had not ratified the Treaty. Argument is proceeding.
