FLOUR SHORTAGE.

GROCERS’ SUPPLIES STILL SHORT. Grocers in Christchurch find that the uomand for flour continues greater than tlie supplies. Some millers have absolutely refused to take grocers' orders, others are giving grocers only portions of their requirements. Nearly every Riocei in the city is convinced that customcr's are hoarding, and that many people ivho need flour will have to 20 without any. Mr H. Bruce, vice-president of the Canterbury Bakers’ Association, stated to-dny that, whatever the position might be amongst grocers, bakers had no difficulty whatever. They had ample stocks, and would not be in fear , s 'iPPlics being inconveniently deplenished. He added that ho was not aware ol speculative purchases, and' that he thought that the shortage was' brought about by a kind of panic that had no justification.
