The Mayor has telegraphed to Mr G. W. Forbes. M.P-, strongly urging that the Public Works Department should he asked to make a boat harbour for fishermen’s motor-boats at Kaikoura. On Saturday next, probably, Dr Thacker xvi 11 motor to Kaikoura to inspect the site of the boat harbour. He null return on Sunday. The Mayor has been informed by the Telegraph Department that it intends to place its mires in the city in conduits underground. Ho mill ascertain if the electrical department of the City Council mill place its mires underground and mill ask the Trammay Board to take the same step. It is proposed to have the conduits under the footpaths, and to have on the footpaths stone flags mhich may bo raised and mill enable' an inspection of the conduits to be made. The scheme mill lead to the removal of all poles from the streets of the cilv.
