NAVY LEAGUE.
KAIKOURA MEETING. Two representatives of the Navy League, the Rev E. Eliot Chambers and the honorary secretary, Mr. C. J. Trelcaven, journeyed to Kaikoura on Easter Monday for the purpose of arranging an entertainment there under the auspices of the league, and the entertainment was given at the local Town Hall on Wednesday evening last. Mr James Boyd, chairman of the Kaikoura County Council, occupied the. chair, and the Rev Chambers outlined the work of the Navy since the begmniiif of the war. and emphasised the valiio of the Navy to New Zealand. He referred to tho necessity of keeping the pronnganda. of the league going, and appealed for members. He then talked about the various types of T™rships. illustrated by. a large number of excellent lantern slides. Soncs werP contributed by M'.?s Richardson and Messrs Richardson and Carter. Mrs Valentine and Miss Richardson assisted at the piano. A number of kiuema films were shown. The Rc/v J. Sea ton thanked the representatives of the league for coming to Kaikoura, and for the instructive "ddress which had been given. Mr Treleaven returned thanks to the various ladies and gentlemen who had assisted at the entertainment, and explained the objects of the league, after which a larn;e number of new members were enrolled.
