THE LATEST ANTISEPTIC.
Garlic, which French medical officers arc prescribing among their antiseptics in the present war, performed a similar oflice for our ancestors during epidemics of the plague. This malodorous native ov the Kirghis desert came to Britain about 1618, and was sold at Garlick Hill in the city. It proved too pungent, for the national palate, and soon lost popularity still retained on tho Continent, but especially in Spain. Garlic is botanically near akin to the romantic lily.
