lu a recent.articlo in. the '"'lndependanco Roumainc," the effect of the naval superiority of Great Britain on the course of the Avar was strongly insisted upon. The mere existence of the British fleet and its presence in any ocean was sufficient, it was stated, to sweep the war and commerce vessels of any hostile Power from that ocean. British vessels traversed all waters, while those of Germany sought the shelter of the shore and remained there. Germany, the " Independence. Rounuiine," which is the official Government organ, continued, was now seeking to menace tho source of the greatness and power of the Allies, and was endeavouring to prove that they did not need to command the sea, as the Allies lvero unablo to resist < their march through Bulgaria to Constantinople. A Turkish victory such as would then, in the opinion of ■ tho Central Powers, bo possible woiild upset all •notions as to "bo invincibility of the Aiiglo3?reneh navies, and would' have tremendous effect in India, and Persia. I'f th?so intrigues, Avith a view to affecting Islamism, were to bo countered Serbia must be saved, for unless this were
done a bad effect would have been produced in the Muhammadan provinces of Great Britain, Franco and Italy. .
