ANXIOUS ABOUT IT.
COMPULSION IN BRITAIN, j GERMANS KEENLY INTERESTED "Times" and Sydney " Sun " Services, j (Received January 12, 9 a.m.) j LONDON, January 11- j The German Press is showing the j keenest interest, thinly veiling its anxiety- in regard to compulsion in England, every detail' of the campaign being religiously reported. It is evident that the. enemy finally realises the incalculable significance of Britain's decision to throw her full military strength into the scales. The recent myth that the Huns were taking only an academic'-'interest in compulsion -was abjectly abandoned during the past week. English news occupies columns in the front pages of leading newspapers. Not only. are'developments in and out of Parliament closely reported, • but the trend of British newspapers'. comment is carefully watched and elaboratequotations published. ■•■•'-,' \ Correspondents have apparently bean I instructed to spare no expense in
chronicling the progress of the Compulsion Bill. Comment is. restricted, but the utmost prominence is given to every trace of opposition to the Bill. Sir John Simon's speech was reported at length.
