UNKNOWN.
My soul went out far through the realms of space, Seeking the great invisible, called God; It passed bypaths no mortal foot had trod To other worlds, slow marching in their place. I aiked each radiant star, " Is. this His throne— The throne of God—Him whom we do not know?" And each to mo made answer, sad and slow. "'Wo know Him not, nor have we ever known." I asked a comet, flaming on its way. 'lts red mane streaming out alar behind. And heard it answer, like a rushing wind, "We know Him not—nor lind Him when we stray.'' Yet, as 1 passed. I saw His guiding hand; Sun. star and comet, and even the moon, though dead. Gave evidence of power, majestic, dread. Which wo can see. hut never understand. And now I know that man's weak, finite brain God's placo a)ul power can never comprehend; We may not know Him, on whom worlds depend, Or knowledge oi His purposes attain. —Ninette M- Lowater in the "Springfield Republican.'
