CHRISTCHURCH PRESBYTERY
YESTERDAY'S MEETING. The Christchurch Presbytery met yesterday afternoon in the St Paul's Church; present—Revs J. S. Reid (chairman), Dr Erwin, J. Mackenzie, T. Tait. J. Pringles, A. Laishley, R, H Blair, E. E. Hill, G. K. Artkeiu D. D. Rodger, W. T. To<ld. T. Miller i G. LindsaT, A. D. Kirkland. F. Rule, N. M'Callum. J. S. Young and C. Murray (clerk); home missioneries, Messrs R. Blair and "W. J. te Tenuant, elders, Messrs J. Reid, N. MacNae, J. Sutherland, J. Lane and A. Moore. The Rev A. D. Kirkland. the newlyappointed minister for Waikari, was officially welcomed by the Moderator as a member of the Presbytery. The Rev W. Todd reported on the 'Wakanui outfields and Mayfield, and moved that these districts should be constituted a separate charge. The motion was carried.
A letter from Dr Gibb was received, stating that a minister might be sent to Hanmor in a week or two. The writer also complained that funds -were very low for the mission stations, and in his opinion many of them would have to be abandoned.
Mention was made by the Rev D. Rodger that Br Erwin, who had just completed thirty years' service at the Knox Church, had also served the same time on the Presbytery. The Revs D. Rodger and J. Mackenzie were appointed a committee to draft a resolution for inclusion in the minutes of tho meeting in appreciation of Dr Erwin's services.
