YOUNG APPREHENDED. CHARGED WITH SEDITION. [Pan Peess Association;] WELLINGTON, Norember 12. Mr W. T. Young, president of the • Federation of Labour and secretary of tije Wellington branch of the Seamen's Union, was arrested this morning on a charge of sedition and brought before the Magistrate's Court. Messrs Semple, Holland, Bauey and Fraser also appeared. CROWDED COURT. THE ACCUSED APPEAR. MANY POLICE ON GUARD. At an early hour the Court was Eacked to its utmost capacity and a irge body of mounted and toot specials, accompanied by regular police, guarded all the approaches and entrances to the Court. Others lined the walls on each side of the court-room with drawn batons. Mr Riddell, S.M., presided. Young's case was called first and he was charged with using seditious wordß at Basin Reserve on Sunday, October 2<3, when he said: "If the police force is coming to suppress us, we will undertake to mass ten or fifteen thousand armed men, ready to protect ourselves as armed men, if the police use batons, and give thorn one back." He was also charged with that on the sam« date he was inciting persons to resist the police, lie was further charged with inciting persons to commit breaches of the peace. When the dominion agreement between the master builders and the carpenters was formally signed to-day, several speakers expressed satisfaction that the methods of conciliation had proved successful, especially at this time of industrial strife. Mr Bennett, a master builder, said he was in a position to state authoritatively that the employers had absolutely no objection to unionism on pro-perly-constituted lines. Mr Beveridge, the workers' delegate, said that there had been some discontent in Auckland, but this agreement would help to settle it. The Amalgamated Society had stuck well to the Arbitration Court, and would now be more firm in its adherence.
