The weather was fine, but dull for the third day of the Canterbury Jockey Club's spring meeting, and there waa a large attendance I for an oil day. Bravest fell near tho seven furlong post, and a little further on Combination joined Mercedo in the lead. Brocade and I Rencontre- were showing ,out clear when the field settled, down, and they were still out in command 'at the distance, whore Hymettius, Charmilla and Angelina closed up. A little further' on Renoontro drew out and won' comfortably- by a length from Brocade, who beat Charmilla by a neck, with Hymettius • and Angelina close up, and ■Sigiiorile and.Merry Trick, at the head of the others. Racing for the straight Lady Maroia lost her place, ; and Gasoline turned for home well cisar ol Sa-aguinary, who • was followed by Silver Shield, Sunbird and Mount Victoria. Royal Arms put in a strong run from tho distance, bui though he pasaea all the others, ha could not get near Gv.soline, wi:o by nearly thrc-o lengths. Sanguinary was a length and a half away third, followed by Mount . Victoria, Sunbird and Mysteriarch. Time—lmin SO 2-ssec. Potoa put in a strong run from the,distance,, but Bliss held her place to the end -arid won by a neck. Mowbray was three lengths away third, followed by Crown Pearl, Undecided, Quarantine and Autumnus. Time —lmin 41 4-ssec.
