EARTHQUAKES.

[Per Piif.ss Association.] DUXEDLN 7 . April 26. A severe shock of earthquake was felt at seven minutes patst ten to-day. Country stations notify that the direction wa,s north and south. Omaknu experienced a very severe shock. GORE, April 26. A severe shock of earthquake was felt at 10.10 a.m. to-day, lasting eight seconds. The direction was from north-west, to south-east. Buildings were shaken and people were alarmed hut no damage is reported. LNVERCAKGILL. April 2(5. A sharp earthquake, lasting a lew seconds, was experienced, at 10.10 a.m. At Mataura it was preceded by a rumbling noise and in some houses in Invercargill it was followed by a strong odour of sulphur. No damage is renortod.
