United Pres9 Association—By Electric ' Telegraph—Copyright. , (Received January 30, 10 a.m.) LONDON, January 29. . } Suffragettes smashed windows in ReSgeht and Oxford Streets, Charing Cross j and other centres. Three female suffragettes and one male suffragist, for eupporting Mrs Despard, ' were sentenced to fourteen days in gaol.
I Mrs Drummond, who refused to pay her fine, on being sentenced to a fort- ' night's imprisonment in the second division, exclaimed, "For shamo! You mean the first division. There will be ! a hunger strike." Several others re-, oeived similar sentences. ! THE BITER BIT.
• Miss Grace Burbidge. while endearoaring to place phosphorus in a letterbox, dropped the phosphorus on her arm, burning the flesh. Miss Burbidge fsie medically treated and remanded.
! A Stiffragette smashed another window valued at £l5O in the HamburgAmerica Company's office. \
t An unknown person having paid her jfine, Mrs Despard has been released.
