[Per Press Association.] NELSON, .Ternary 28. At tho morning session to-day, it was announced that Miss Marsden, Nelson, had promised a donation of £IOOO for tho Marsden Memorial, conditionally on five others giving a like sum. Tho Bishop of Auckland moved—- " That the cordial thanks of the Synod be accorded to Miss Marsden for her munificent donation to the Marsden Centenary and the Synod hopes that her examplo of generosity will be followed speedily by many in New Zealand." This was seconded by tlie Bishop of Christchurch, and carried. Tho Select Committee on Accounts submitted tho following* recommendations—(l) That £SO for printing eand* publishing an occasional _ service book for the use of the clergy bp advanced to those responsible for drawing uj> and issuing same; (2) that, owing -to-the state of the funds, and that £9O has already been voted towards the. building, of tho Dunedin Cathedral, no recommendation can. be made in reference to tho suggested additional grant to tlio cathedral; (3) that- under the General Church Trust no provision can bo made by which payments for actuarial investigation into the various diocesan pension funds could bo,made: , 1 \ The Bishop of. Auckland moved, and it was . carried—"That tho members of the Select Committee set up to report on tho selection and training of candidates for holy orders, together with the heads of the-theological colleges, be appointed a commission to consider further recommendations, and report' to f next general Synocj."
