Tho West-land Racing Club has resolved on extensivo improvements and alterations to its racecourse, involving an expenditure of £ISOO. The track and most of til© conveniences are being improved. Better totalisator facilities will also bo provided. The works will bo completed by next January, when the Wdstland goldfields jubilee will bo celebrated, and to mark that event the club'proposes to give a Jubilee Cup, tho event being worth 200 sovs. RICCARTON TRAINING NOTES. Tuesday. When the trainers reached the course this morning tho weather was cold, and heavy showers of rain fell at intervals, which made conditions unpleasant. The regular tracks were under water in the low-lying parte, but thecustodian , opened the outside of the course-proper, which provided capital going'. Autumnus (Emerson) .and Scottish Star (M'Carthy) were the first out, and they reeled off six furlongs in lmin 20sec, Autunmus showing to most advantage. Mumura (Gibbons) traversed sv mile and a quarter in 2min 24sec, and Troon, who was to have accompanied him over the last mile, got going too early, and completed the distance alone, Historiette (Stratford) was going better than Cherubiui (Campbell) and Snowraker (Clarke) at the end of a spin over live furlongs, run in lmin 5 2-ssec. Nightwateh, assisted by Judith over the last five, brushed over six furlongs in lmin 21sec. Gold Cup defeated Gregory with ridiculous ease over a similar distance, run in lmin 26sec, which time ho could liava improved upon considerably. Winning Way spurted five' furlongs in lmin 5 2-ssec, and Mortius ran half a mile in 53- 3-ssec; Zeus, who started with him, was eased up after having gone three furlongs. Emperador and Free galloped five furlongs in lmin 6 2-ssec. The former, who had much the best of the gallop, was going easily at the finish. Salzburg showed to more advantage than Ogier in n spin over five furlongs, run in lmin 5 2-ssec, and Whizz, alone, put in useful pacing over half a mile. Stamboul brushed over five furlongs in lmin G 2-ssec, and Canute had Ar,<drea easily beaten at the end of a strongly run seven furlongs, which occupied lmin 38 l-ssec. Rinaldo finished nicely at the end of a spin over five furlongs, which he ran in lmin 5 '2-sseq. Bradamante, who started with him, was eased off about a furlong from the winning post, whero she appeared to hojd Rinaldo quite safely. After the breakfast interval the. weather 'conditions were even worse, and some particularly heavy showers of rain fell. Imp ran five furlongs in lmin 7 2-sseo, and Genius cast six furlongs behind him in lmin 25sec. Fender brushed over five furlongs in lmin G 2-i>sec, while Tannhauaiw (O'Connor) traversed a mile in lmin 5!?. l-ssec. Thrax spurted five furlongs in lmin 13see, and Anna Carlovna ran a mile and a quarter comfortably in 2min 23sec, Editnh galloped a mile in lmin 54 2-ssec, and Pilgrim's Way (Woods) registered a 'pleasing performance by running six furlongs comfortably in lmin 21 3-ssec. Scotch Melody galloped a similar distance in lmin 23sec, and Pleasure Bent, defeated Kimona in a spin over six furlongs, which, occupied Lmin 22sec. Peg, looking well, ran five furlongs in lmin 7see, and Joan defeated Aimv/ell over a similar distance, run in lmin 8 2-ssoc. Ladrono was hotter than Advance Guard in a- spin over six furlongs, which occupied lmin 2-lsec. Stardancer (Mussen) dashed over a mile in lmin 43 4-sse<s. Warlight and the Glenapp—Fairy Queen Ally ran six furlon?s in lmin 22 l-ssec, . a distance that Query (R. King) completed in lmin 22 2-ssec. Gnome (MuEsen) traversed nine furlongs in 2min 5 l-osec, and War Step (R. King) was fully extended over five furlongs, run in lmin 8 2-ssee.
