LOCAL GOVERNMENT ENGINEERS.

About thirty local government and civil engineers, from all parts of NewZealand. met to-day and established an Institute of Local Government Engineers of New Zealand. Tho following officers were elected:—Mr S. Jickell (Pfilmerston North): vice-presidents, Messrs S. Mair (Hunterville) and R. S. Ronnthwaite (Wellington): Council— Messrs Brenmor (South Canterbury), Dillon (Pahiatua). Banks (Waitaki), Roche (Lower Hutt), M'Guinness (Christchurch). Armstrong (Palmerston North), 'Williams (Punediu), Patterson (Gisborne), Basham (Eltham), Wright (Pahiatua), Shannon (Auckland), Thompson (Westport) ; secretary, Mr S. Mavi; treasurer, Mr R. Harding. A sub-commit-tee was appointed to frame by-laws and report to another meeting to-morrow. A deputation will lav several matters of interest to the Institute before the Minister of Internal Affairs.
