(Abridged from Press Association.) HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES. Thursday, August 17. AFTERNOON SITTING. The House met at 2.30 p.m. BILLS. Tho Sir Donald M'Lean Memorial Park Bill (Mr Brown) and "Wellington City Empowering and Amendment Bill (Mr Wilford) were read a first time. Sir Robert Stout's report on the Cook Islands was laid on the table. The discussion was fixed for next Thursday. RACING COMMISSION. Mr Davey asked that the order of reference defining the scope of the Racig Commission should be laid on the table with the report of the Commission. Sir James Carroll agreed to the request. DUTIES ON FOOD. -Mr Hogg moved the second reading of the Abolition of Duties on Food Bill. The debate was interrupted by the 5.30 p.m. adjournment. EVENING SITTING. The House resumed at 7.30 p.m. The debate on the Food Duties Bill was oarried on till 11.46 p.m., when it was adjourned on the motion of Mr Jennings, and the House rose.
