A BANKRUPTCY CASE.
[Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, August 18. Walter Francis Darby, a warehouseman, applied for a discharge from bankruptcy at the Supreme Court today. Mr Justice Edwards., interrupting counsel, who was urging reasons iu support of the application,, said that he knew the whole case from end to end, .and had not the slightest idea of granting a discharge. Mr Earl said that the estate was being satisfactorily wound up. As far as ho could gather none of the creditors was opposing the discharge. He mentioned one creditor in particular. Tlio Judge said : "I don't care a straw for that. He may be squared for all I know." Mr Earl assured his Honor that there had been nothing of the kind to his knowledge. Finally the said he would not grant a discharge until lie was persuaded that his i>resent view of bankrupt's conduct, founded on the case in tho Court of Appeal, was erroneous. Tho application was allowed to stand for one week.
