SIR JAMES CARROLL LN DUNEDIN IFixoji Ot'R Correspondent.] DUNEDLN, July 5. The two jSative members of the Cabinet had a hearty reception at the hands of the audience, which taxed the holding capacity of the Garrison Hall. When Sir James Carroll concluded his speech some leather-lunged individual in the gallery called for the Maori war cry, and, the request being ropoated from various parts of the hall, if was complied with by the Ministers and other members of the " northern Maori invasion." This interlude, which was quite unexpected, lent a dramatic air to the evening's entertainment. A resolution of confidence in the Administration whs earned without dissent, amidst hearty applause. Subsequently the Ministers were entertained at Brown's Tearooms by prominent citizens, and left in the morning for Oamaru, where a speech will bo delivered to-night. [T'kr Pbkss Association.] At the close of the meeting the following resolution wa.s carried unanimously—" That this meeting of Dunedin citizens thanks Sir James Carroll and the Hon A. G. Neat a for their able and interesting addresses on the Native land question and other political subjects, and also desires to express its confidence in the Ministry of which they are members." The proposers were Mr Hamel, .Mayor of Roslyn, and Mr Crawford Anderson, farmer, Clutha. OAMARU. July (>. Sir James Carroll visited Oamaru today, and was accorded a civic reception. He will be entertained at luncheon, and will deliver an address in the evening.
