"BIG GAME."
_—.—♦— —- THE STOLEN MOTOR-CAR. ABANDONFD AT BANKSIDE. As the result of inquiries telegraphed broadcast, the Christchurch detective office last evening got a clue as to the whereabouts of the two-seater Talbot motor-car stolen from Dr. Browne's garage the previous evening. A message was received from Bankside to the effect that a white car' had been standing by the side of the road for some time, apparently deserted. It was also ascertained that a. person pretending to be Dr Browne's chauffeur had obtained a tin of petrol on credit at a Christchurch garage yesterday. Dr Browne, accompanied by Detective M'Leed. set out for Bankside in a motor-oar at 10 p.m. yesterday, and found the missing car by the roadside. The car was practically undamaged, and was driven back to town by Dr Browne. PRINCE WARBKCIv FOUND. STALLION RESTORED TO OWNER. The horse Prince Warbeck. which was stolen during Tuesday night, was recovered by the police yer.terday. Word was received at the detective office 1 yesterday afternoon that a horse wa.s wandering at large in Strickland Street, Spreydon. and Detective Kennedy went out to inspect tho animal. He at once identified it as Prince Warbeck, and rode it hack to town barebacked. The horse was lodged for the night at the Rink stables, and was returned to its owner this morning, none, the worse for its adventures. It is suspected that, the horse was stolen by a party of Burnham absconders, who are also credited with having stolen Dr Browne's motor-car.
