THE HON G. FOWLDS.
A r.ITSY DAY. The Hon G. Fowlds, Minister of Education, arrived from "Wellington •■his morning. He reeeived deputations during the morning and opened the new wards nt the Hospital in the afternoon. He will return to Wellington bv to-night's s1 earner. VISIT TO THE NORTH LfNWOOD SCHOOL. This morning the Minister visited the North Linwood School, m company with the member for the district. Mr G. AY. Russell. He was met by t},*> chairman of the committee, (Mr E. Den ion) the chairman of the Education Board (Mr C H. Opie). the lu-ad-niastor, and other members ol the committee. The Minister visited all the classrooms, and greeted the children. He was informed that the school was the most up-to-date in Canterbury. Tt had been built for -50. and had opened with an attendance of 17/5, while the roll number had increased to 150. Mr Fowlds was. shown two very fine .shelter sheds erected out of local contributions, and a number of very commendable improvements in the grounds, such as asphalting, grassing and so on. Mr Fowlds expressed his pleasure- at the state of the odiooL and congratulated the teachers.
