WELCOME AT WELLINGTON. [Per Press x\ssociation.] WELLINGTON. May 2. The Irish Home Rule delegates were welcomed to-day by the Mayor (Mr TM. Wilford) and members of the City Council.

In acknowledging the reception accorded them, Mr J. L. Donovan said: "We come bearing a message of good cheer and hope to the people of New Zealand. We believe that at last, with the assent of the British democracy at Home and of tlio British-speaking people throughout the world, we are about to attain that measure of national self-government which you so well and wisely enjoy here in New Zealand, and we believe that the solution of the Irish problem and the attainment- of their national ricrlits bv the Irish people will tend not merely to the prosperity and purification of our own country politically, but that it will tend to consolidate and strengthen the Empire, of which it will be nleased to be incorporated as a free unit. If that Coines to past. within the next eighteen months or two years, w'e will have to thank tlie people of Australasia, of all sections, of all creeds and classes, for the practical sympathy and support which they have accorded us." [Per Press Association.] AUCKLAND, May 2. A public meeting to arrange a reception for the Home Rule envoys carried a resolution extending a welcome. The sum of £420 was subscribed at the meeting, tor the Irish Parliamentary Fund.
