AUCKLAND STOCK- EXCHANGE. [From Our Correspondent,] AUCKLAND, December 22. In mining shares less business was dona, but the improved inquiry for Thames lowpriced shares would seeiu to point to buying! in anticipation of an improved market in the New Year, as it is felt that should a payable reef be met with in the oross-cut at 'OOOft thore will be an all-round revival. in Thames stocks. Saxon shares are being quietly pioked up as the cross-cut is nearinp the boundary of that mine. From that property it goes on to the Moanatairi, and sales of these shares took place this week at 2d and Thames at Id. viotoria also firmed a shade, boms' sold yesterday at lid. Coromandel shares bad a little more attention this week. Old Hauraki sold frequently at 2s 3d., Hauraki Reef had a very satisfactory return. A few pounds of picked stone were reported thlß week from the Pride of Tokatea _ mine, which resulted in sales at id. Waihi shares showed little change and had few transactions. Grand Junction sold frequently from 31s to 80s 9d, and "Waihi Beefs Consolidated sold at 8a id. An improvement took place in Golden Cross shares yesterday afternoon, sales being made at Sliehtly higher prices were offered for Monowai shares, now that it is known the battery will start operations early in January. Talisman and Crown were steady at late rates. The Exchange closes to-morrow evening for Christmas and New Year vacation.
