Mr L. C. Griscom, ex-Ambassa-dor to Japan, on behalf .of Mr Roosevelt, is proceeding to Beverley to .confer with Mr Taft. The visit is described as one of conciliation and enlightenment, and is intended to emphasise the necessity for the national • administration remaining neutral between the New York State factions. The dissensions in the Republicans' ranks are visibly reacting in fa.vour of the Democrats in New York and New Jersey.
