FIRES.

[Per Press Association.] NELSON, March 4. The Rising Sun Hotel, on the Waimea Road, a wooden building, was totally destroyed by five at three o'clock this morning. The licensee, Paul Mitchell, and his family had a narrow escape. The staircase was on fire and they had to descend from windows with fire-escape ropes. The building was owned by Dodson and Sons, brewers, and was insured for £450 in the Standard Office, and the furniture and stock for £3OO in the Northern Union.
