A SCHOOLTEACHERS' MATCH.

GANTERBURY v. NEW SOUTH / WALES. A inatch was played at Hagley Park yesterday between a team of New South Wales schoolteachers, who are on a tour of New Zealand, and a team of North Canterbury teachers. New South Wales were all out for 131, P. Harvey taking seven wickets for 24 runs. Individually- North Canterbury made a worse 6tand than the visitors, but R. H. North played a capital innings for 70 not out, and' was ably seconded by Allard and Chambers. The match was decided on the first innings, although the visitors went in again, and at call of time had made 95 for three wickets. The following are the scores : —

.For the interprovincial match next Saturday and Monday at Hagley Park between Canterbury (Thursday) and Wellington (Wednesday) Mr R. Vincent has given a bat tor presentation to the Canterbury Junior making the highest score in either innings.

A cricket match was played at Lyttelton yesterday between teams representing H.M.S. Challenger and the Union Steam Ship Company's* Maori. The game resulted in a win for the man-of-war by -76 runs to 26. Moore 14, M'Rae 10 and Stafford, jun., 10 succeeded- in making two-figure scores for the winners, but the Maori's people were content with lesser scores. Stafford, sen., Ewen, Moore and Hann bowled well for the winning team, and Bees, Sidewell and Smith for the Maori.
