The Hon Clifford Sifton, ex-Minister of the Interior, in the Dominion House of Commons, said that conversations he had had with Mr Lloyd-George and Mr Asquith had shown that (Britain would give sympathetic consideration to any definite proposition for an All Red mail route. A twenty-four knot service was required, with a subsidy of one million sterling, Canada paying £325,000, New Zealand £100,000, Australia £75,000 and Great Britain £500,000.
