+ CHRISTCHURCH. Wednesday, January 30. (Before Mr H. W. Bishop, S.M.) Drunkenness. — One first offender was convicted and discharged, and one was fined ss. and cab hire Is, in default twenty-four hours' imprisonment. — Kate Moore, with 144 previous convictions against her name, pleaded guilty to a charge of drunkenness. She had just been released from gaol after serving a sentence of eighteen months. She was convicted and discharged. — Mary Kerr, who had just been discharged from the Salvation Army Home, was convicted and discharged upon charges of drunkenness and breach of prohibition order. For damage done to Government property in the Police Station she was sentenced to two months' imprisonment, the warrant to be suspended if she remained in the Salvation Army Home for six months. His Worship said that he only dealt so leniently with the accused because of the favourable report «f the Salvation Army officer.
