EXHIBITION. " You are all aware," Sir Joseph continued, " that the city possesses an ln- ! ternation'al Exhibition. I think I know that is so. (Laughter and applause.) The colony generally has commenced, to recognise that you have that, Exhibition .in Christchurch. The. Press of the country is giving publicity to the lin- ! portant events that are taking place in connection with it. Many outsiders will come to your city. Many distinguished people have come already from different parts of th© Old Country, and the Cathedral City will have an advertisement for many years to come, both in your own country and beyond its shores." No one who realised what had been done in regard to the finances ever expected that both ends would meet. It would have been an unfair way of carrying on an Exhibition, and if itreached anything like the sum of money the Government was originally prepared to pay, it would be a good thim* for
'the colony, and it certainly had not been a. bad thing for Chri6tchuroh. (Applause.) He would like to say how very much he appreciated the work done in the early stages, and also in the* later stages, by the committees. They had ■' given tremendous services, which were recognised '--by the citizens and by the country. CONCLUSION.
