SIR JAMES FR=ERGUSSON'S DEATH.
FOREWARNING OP THE DISASTER | THE DEATH ROLL. RELIEF FUNDS. (Received January 18, 8.41 a.m.) LONDON, January 1-7. Falling masonry killed Sir James Fergusson. A tremendous wind storm, accompanied by partial darkness, forewarned the whites of the disaster, and they rushed to the open, hence their death roll is comparatively email. The natives sheltered in the poorer quarters, where »the chief fatalities occurred. The battery at Port Royal was submerged, and two gunners were killed. A relief fund has been started at the Mansion House.
