The following is a summary of news which did not appear in yesterday's "Star": — President Roosevelt has arrived at Colon.
Fivo persons veers court-martiailed at Odtessa for bemb-throwing. Three, including a girl, were sentenced to death, and two to seventeen years' penal servitude.
King Edward, receiving members of the International Federation of Ma-ster Cotton Spinners and Manufacturers Association at Windsor, made a speech warmly sympathising with the aims of the Federation. He hoped that the King of Italy's internationa.l scheme of agriculture would also assist the cotton and kindred industries. He added that the supply of raw material had 1 apparently been somewhat inadequate in recent years.
Mr Winston Churchill, in. reply to questions in the House of Commons, said 1 that vigorous steps were progressing to improve tho conditions prevailing in the Chines© compounds on the Rand. There would bo no further recruiting in British Central Africa for Rand underground labour. If the CommonweaJth Government desired to recommend candidates for the new office in the New Hdbride3 Lord Elgin would carefully consider such recommendations*.
Lord Hugh Cecil, speaking 1 at Bury, eaid' tha,t all circle? valuing Church of England principles would rojoico if the Education Bill, with all its amendments, should be withdrawn forthwith. The Bill might bo further amended and made- tolerable for a few years, whereas it would be insufferablo if it passed as it left tho House of Commons. Tho " Times " state* that it is unlikely the Education Bill will return Jo, the House of Commons before the beginning of December.
