The damage is estimated at £7000. . „ The bodies of two dead infants have been found :a Melbourne, making eleven in three months. # % The Premier of South Australia* Mr Jenkins, will shortly proceed to England, to act as Agent-General. # » The Rev J. Sellars has been elected president of the Methodist Conference at Sydney, which this year celebrates its jubilea. An explosion of gas occurred in the Alabama Steel and Wire Company's Virginia mines. One hundred and seven men are reported to have perished, and many others are entombsd. As a result of the high prices 'in Europe, the Colonial Sugar Company is despatching a steamer to Liverpool with 4500 tons of Java sugar, a portion of the Melbourne and Adelaide reserve stocks. The Dunlop reliability motor contest from Sydney to Melbourne started yesterday. Twenty-three cars tnd twelve motor cycles otavtod.
