The opinion in London is that it is not likely that Lord Dudley's resignation will be accepted. The consensus of opinion is that he is popular with all parties. The "Standard" says that Lord Dudley's retirement will be a grievous loss to Ireland. The "Daily Mail" says that Mr Balfour is expected to make a statement enabling Lord Dudley to remain and continue his good work.
