WHEEL TALK. (By ROVER.) Ivor Lawson, the American champion cyclist and winner of the 1904 World's Professional Two-kilometre Championship, easily Walter Rutt, the German rider, in a series of test matches at Sydney. Lawson later on broke the world's record for one mile, covering the distance in lmin 47 4-ssee. It is stated that Floyd Macfarland has determined to go out on his own account for all the scratch and handicap events to be decided at future carnivals in the Commonwealth. According to a Sydney paper he asserts that he is willing to ride, for a good sum, cither Lawson, Eilep-aard or Rutt in a series of matches or three or four cornered races, as the promoters think fit. The 1905 World's Championships -will take place in Antwerp. Tho dates fixed on are July 16, 21 and 23. The French cyclist Brecy, irho, as recently stated in these columns, met with such a severe accident on November 14 in Paris, -when attempting to lower the hour paced record, died from the effects of his injuries. In the New York six days' race five of the crack teams retired from the track, alleging unfair doings. The first prize is £300. At latest advice. Palmer, of Australia, and his mate were second, having done 1025 miles,, six laps.
