C3RISTCHURCH. Thursday, November 10. (Before Mr W. W. Collins, J.P., and Mr S. S. Blackburne, J.P.) Dbxjnkknnbss. — Patrick 'M'Ginn pleaded guilty to a charge of having been drunk in Tuam Street on "November 9. He bad been once convicted during the previous six months, and he was fined 10s and cost*, ■with the alternative of forty-sight hours' i imprisonment. — A man, aged seventy- ! I two, an old age pensioner, who had never been before the Court, was convicted and discharged.— Two other first offenders were fined 10s and 5s respectively, with the usual alternatives. A. Danoerotts Character. — David Jeffries was charged with being, at Christchuroh, on November 9, an idle and disorderly person within the meaning of the Police Offences Act, 1884. He was further charged with being an idle and disorder]* person under the Police Offences Amendment Act, 1901, in that he habitually ooneorted with reputed thieves. He pleaded guilty to both charges. Chief-Detective Chrvatal, who described accused as a dangerous man, handed in a long list of previous convictions. A sentence of one month's imprisonment was imposed on each charge, the sentences to be cumulative.
