Painton, a •machinist, of Pennsylvania, has patented a multiple electric propeller for whioh he claims extraordinary power. A company is being formed in New York to haEdle the invention, and at a meeting it was tentatively decided to construct a vessel 660 ft in length, at a cost ot MOO.OOO, to test the propeller. The Vessel wiU have two shafts astern, three on eaoh side, and two at the bow. Each shaft carries two propellers. The motors on the shafts are connected by eleotric wires with the turbines, which generate suißoient power to attain. thousands of revolutions per minute. The inventor claims that the vessel will be Hbta to 'cross tho Atlantic in three da j* s.
