Mr Taverner has cabled suggesting that his evidence respecting 'Mr Sinclair's charges should be taken by commission in London, but Mr Bent has replied that he must return and give evidence in Melbourne. (In giving evidence, before the Butter Commission, Mr Sinclair, formerly Government Agent in London, accused Mr Taverner, Minister of Agriculture, of arranging with a company personally to act as. ifca agent in obtaining shipping produce, and , also accused him of shipping inferior lamb, some of "which was seized as unfit for human consumption, and branding it with the Government certificate. He declared that Mr Taverner secretly applied for a sit© for refrigerating works.)
