DARING BURGLARY.
.. ~4 AN HOTEL ENTERED. [P?r Press Association.] AUCKLAND, April 5. The Imperial Hotel, one of the leading Auckland houses, was robbed last night in a most daring manner, the losses in cash and jewellery being estimated at between j £600 and £700. Someone, apparently a j person staying in the hotel, entered the j bedroom of Mr Tom Fearce, ; the manager, i and stole his keys, while he slept, and \ quietly opened the safe without difficulty, taking cash amounting to £125, and a large voash-box filled with valuable jewellery and gold specimens, the property of Mrs W. J H. Pearce, who estimates her lofeses at between £500 and. £600. The articles, which include the possessions of her late husband and daughter, are of value far more than their intrinsic worth. So coolly was the robbery conducted that the occupants of tire hotel did not discover it until the policeman found the front door unlocked and roused those inside.
