"AN AMERICAN EMPRESS."
The New York "Herald" publishes a story, based on private correspondence from Japan, that\tne Korean Empress- Om is an American, whose father was a Presbyterian missionary in Korea. Her maiden name is said to have been Emily Brown. The " Almanacli de Gotha" has the following footnote to its information regarding the Korean royal family: — "According to aewst paper information, the Emperor has raised a favourite named Om to the rank of Empress."
