The manager of the Pacific cable inkformed the Chamber of Commerce deputation that the Board was taking steps to gain all the facilities enjoyed by those using the Eastern route. The Pacific route was being equipped with the best automatic instruments, and in an- emergency would be able to carry the whole traffic of Australia. The traffic, so far, had been up. to the estimate. The manager states that he has received a cable. message front London stating that the Board anxiously desired a conference 'between, the partners to the agreement. _
