A NELSON TRAGEDY. fPEH Press Association.] N'ISLSON, June 2. ,At the lock-up at noon to -day, John Wilson, aged thirty-two, a nteaflftn, foim^rly Employed on the steamer \Vaverley, on remand on a charge of stealing £5 from the trawler Doto, cut his jugular, vein with, a dinner knife, and died as soon as medical aid arrived. Hia last word-awere: "My poor wife." Wileon had Seen rational and cheerful all the morning. A f-ew minutes before he committed suicide, the Sergeant of Police left him his dinner, with a knife and fork. The deceased's widow and son recently left. Auckland to reside AVith a friend in Wellington. Wilson had been out of work, and this and the charge preyed on, 'his mind. An inquest is being 'held.
