In a large number of cases in the North Canterbury district, there has been failure to elect school committees. This is rather surprising, in view of' the efforts put forth by the Education Boaxd to impress on householders the fact that the elections were pending. Besides inserting advertisements in the newspapers, Hie Board forwarded to every headmaster in the district a reprint of the advertisements, enumerating the various districts, and stating where the meetings oi householders would be held. The head teachers were requested to post the announcement in ,a promir nent place in the schoolroom, .and to ask the children to bring the matter under the notice of parents, reminding them particularly on the morning of the election ; day.
