MEETINGS OF SOCITEIS.
The fortnightly meeting of the.A.OF. Court Star o"f Oam<teTbury was held on Monday evening^ the C.R., Bro W. B. Weakley, in the chair. The Woodwards reported that seventeen members tvere on the {jsick Fund. , It was unanimously de-^ cided to take part in any precession that 1 might be held when peace is proclaimed, and ' the Secretary was instructed to,summon the ' members by advertisement. Five new members were initiated into the Order, and one new member proposed.. Bros Croolcs, Gent, Jacques, Cropp, Eldrid'ge, R<esbieau and Weakley sang songs, and Bro H. C. Weils accompanied on the piano. Several members of Ccurt Queen of Canterbury dsitcd the Court, and also Bro Jonds, of Court Rising Sun, Footscray, Melbourne. Sick pay was passed, and the receipts for the evening amounted to £7 12s. At' a meeting of the Canterbury Women's Institute, to be held this evening,' in Hobbs's Buildings, Mrs Wells will give an address on "'Local Gov-efrnmsni; , Befarm." Th© general public are invited, to attend, {;md a good attendance is hoped for, the subject intently requiring the serious consideration of both, men and women.
