While repairs were being effected to the telephone lines an© fell across an electric tram-wire. A workman, was thrown from a pole and seriously injured, and several miles of wire througihout the city were fused. An , hotel was set on. fire, but this was extinguished after small dSamage - had been done. There were several narrow escapes among people about to use the telephones.
