MEETINGS OF SOCIETIES.

4 The ,twemty-s^condi annual meeting of the teachers of the Sydenham Presbyterian Sabbath School was held on Thursday evening. There was a large attendance, and the Superintendent, Mr D. R. Kennedy, presided. The Secretary read the annual report and balance-sheet, which showed the school to be in an excellent position both numerically and financially. The following office-bearers were elected: — Superintendent, Mr D. R. Kennedy; secretary and treasurer, Mr George A. -Alexander j librarian, Mr R. Picken. A vote of thanks was passed to. tbe outgoing office-bearers for their labours. Messrs Kennedy, M'Farlane, and Picken* were appointed delegates to the Teachers' Union. Three hew teachers were elected, and refreshments, kindly provided by the lady teachers, were then nartaken of. Upon resuming, the Rev R. Scott Allan presented Mr and Mrs A. M'DoAvall with a» easy-chair apiece, in recognition of Mr M'Dowall's long service in the Sabbath School. Mr M'Dowall responded in suitable terms. Mr M'DoAvall has been connected with the school for twenty-one years,. for fourteen of which he has held the position of superintendent, and has been compelled to resign that office on account of failing health.
