CRICKET.

The annual meeting of the Lyttelton Cricket Club was held on Friday. The president, Mr S. R- Webb, occupied the chair. The balance-sheet showed that there was a small debit balance, but the club possessed a good stock of material. A number of new members were elected, and it was decided to enter a team for the President's Cup competition of the Canterbury Cricket Association. The election of officers resulted as follows:— President, Mr S. R. Webb; vice-presidents, Messrs S. W. Mitchell, T. W. Murphy and the Mayor ; secretary Mr E U Just; committee, Messrs J;. M'Gregor, Ayers, Just, Wylie and Bridge; The committee was instructed to make arrangements for the opening game. A vote of thanks was passed to the donors of ■ trophies for the past season. The President announced his intention of offering a bat for the best bowling average during the "coining season. A cricket match between Templeton and Springston was played at Springston on Sat■tirday, and resulted in a win for Springston :by 63 runs on the first innings. Templeton made 48, and 19 for five wickets (Rev J. Blackburn 11 not out). Springton made 111. (Neal 23, Macdonald 19, Kimber 17, E. Keast 15, Lowe 10, Malcolm 10). Cu - rragh and Sinclair bowled be3t for Templeton, and E. Keast and Macdonald for Springstbn, the latter securing five wickets for 19.
