ASHLEY COUNTY ASSOCIATION.

The Ashley County Cup competition was continued on Saturday, when Belfast, on their own ground, beat the Rangiora Club by 29 nms, Belfast scored 67 (Murray 13), and Rangiora 38 (Helmore 19). The former commenced a second innings, arid made 52 for tine loss of one wicket, Murray scoring •22 and Garforth 21. Helmore bowled best for. Phillips will be engaged coaching n.t the various grounds during the week as follcwi: — Midland, Monday and Friday; Lancaster Park, Tuesday.; •Svdenham, Wednesday; and United, Thursday. A meeting of the committee of the Midland Club was held on Saturday evening; present — Messrs J. D. Lawrence (chairman), L. T. Cobcroft, R. Barry. D. Reese, A. Barge, W. Richards and F. T. Evans. A letter was read from the Secretary of the Wellington Midland Club, promising to send the strongest available eleven to play against the Clmatchurch club at Christmas time. It was decided to seek the help of the Sports Protection Association in the case of several defaulters to ,the club. The Secretary was instructed to arrange terms on which the club's pavilion would be let to the Hairdressers' Club on Thursdays.
